37
Mucius Scaevola
Infiltrated the Etruscan camp to kill the king. He saw two people dressed importantly and did not know which one was the king, and guessed wrong. The king threatened to burn him alive and Mucius stuck his hand into the fire and he did not feel any pain, so the king sent him back to Rome.
38
Cloelia
Was a hostage. Led herself and a group of girls to swim across the Tiber to safety. The Etruscan king demanded that she be returned, only to grant her and other hostages freedom. After this the war ended.
39
Cincinnatus
458 BC. The Aequi surrounded the Romans, and their commander a consul. Cincinnatus was named dictator, and the next day he ordered every citizen of military age to go with him to attack the Aequi by surrounding them with two troops. After this he resigned and went back to his farm.
