EC2 Flashcards
1
Q
ENI / ENA / EFA
A
- *ENI** - Regular Card
- *ENA** - (Subset of EN) - [Single Root - I/O virtualization] SR-IOV
- *High performance** network capability on supported nodes.
EFA - OS by pass ( supported on all instances)
2
Q
Difference between ENA and VF
A
-
Elastic Network Adapter - ENA supports upto 100 Gbps for support instance time
- SR-IoV
- Virtual Interface (VF) - 10 Gbps, of supported instance types. Older technology.
- ENA preferred over VF
3
Q
EFA
A
- Can be attached to EC2 for high performance computing and machine learning applications.
- It give lower and more consistent latency and hence more throughput. (Does not use TCP transport layer)
- OS By pass.
4
Q
EC2 Hibernate
A
During hibernation, the content from the RAM gets saved on the EBS root volume. (Suspend to disk). Process data is also stored.
Enforces encryption of the EBS.
RAM should be less than 150GB
Cannot be hibernated for more than 60 days
5
Q
EFS
A
- Falls on multiple availability zone
- It can be mounted on the EC2 instance.
6
Q
Amazon FSx
A
- Windows servers that uses Windows Server Message Block (SMB)
- Support AD , access control, groups and security policy.
- HPC - Amazon FSx for lustre
- Can store data in S3.
- Lustre is a file system that can support million of operations
7
Q
Where is HPC used
A
Machine learning, Financial analysis, weather prediction, autonomous driving so on.
Best time to do HPC.
8
Q
HPC - Data
A
- Snowball/ Snowmobile
- AWS datasync
9
Q
HPC - Compute
A
EC2 - GPU / CPU optimized
EC2 - fleets (sport fleets)
Placement groups (Cluster, spread, partition)
10
