EBS Volume Flashcards
What’s an EBS Volume?
An EBS (Elastic Block Store) Volume is a network drive you can attach to your instances while they run
Example: You can attach an EBS Volume to your EC2 instance.
What does an EBS Volume allow instances to do?
It allows your instances to persist data, even after their termination
Additional information: EBS Volumes help in retaining data even if the instance is stopped.
How many instances can an EBS Volume be mounted to at a time?
They can only be mounted to one instance at a time (at the CCP level)
Note: At the AWS level, an EBS Volume can be attached to one EC2 instance.
What are EBS Volumes bound to?
They are bound to a specific availability zone
Example: An EBS Volume created in us-east-1a will be bound to that availability zone.
