Q

How do you calculate the climb time and ft per minute?

A

Inner ring is time ( 80 = 8 minutes )
Outer ring is ft climbed in the period.
Read above the Divisor ( 10 ) on the Inner

Q

How do you calculate track error.
Given:
distance covered (say 75 NM )
distance to go ( 30 NM )
distance off ( say 4 NM )

A

Line up
Outer: Distance OFF (4 NM)
Inner: Distance COVERED (75NM)

Read
Outer ring at the Rate Arrow on Inner

Track error: 3.2 degrees

Q

How do you calculate Closing Angle?
Given:
distance covered (say 75 NM )
distance to go ( 30 NM )
distance off ( say 4 NM )

A

Line up
Outer: Distance OFF (4NM)
Inner: Distance to Go (30 NM)

Read
Outer ring at the Rate Arrow on the Inner

Closing Angle: 8 degrees

Mental Check. As the distance to go is LESS than distance covered - closing angle should be larger.
