  1. genetics- if first degree relative has ED
  2. Personality- anxious, OCD, low self-esteem
  3. biological- altered brain serotonin function contributes to regulation of apetite, mood and impulse control
  4. childhood sexual abuse
  5. over-protective or overcontrolling childhood environment
  6. culture- in the media

  2. craving for fodd and uncontrolled binge eating (>2000 kcal in a session)
  3. Purging/vomiting/laxative abuse- or in diabetics omit insulin
  4. fluctuation (normal or exessive weight)
  5. preoccupation with body weight and shape
  6. episodes not exclusively during episodes of AN
