Easy Questions Flashcards
TO BEAT CHEMISTRY AND WIN AT THE TEST BECAUSE YOU CAN OBVIOUSLY WIN AT A TEST.
What is an ionic bond?
To oppositely charged ions attracted to each other (between nometals and metals).
What are the four states of matter we have gone over?
Solid, liquid, gas, and plasma.
puppies
yay
What are the valence electrons?
The electrons in the outermost electron cloud.
What do valence electrons determine?
a whole lot of things.
bonding, properties, reactivity
What is a proton?
A particle that is part of the nucleus of the atom that is positively charged.
What is a neutron?
A particle that is part of the neutron that has no charge.
What is an electron?
An electrono is a particle with a negative charge. These are in the electron clouds that are around the nucleus.
What is the nucleus?
The nucleus is the center of the atom that is made up of protons and neutrons.
What is an AMU?
The unit used to measure atomic mass (stands for atomic mass unit).
What did Dmitri Mendelev do?
He created the periodic table we use today.
What are straight bonds?
They are straight bonds between 2 electrons where the elements can move.
What are double bonds?
Double bonds are cured bonds that involve four electrons, the atoms can move a little bit, but not much.
What are triple bonds?
Triple bonds are curved bonds that involve six electrons. They bonds can’t move very much (very hard to move), and there is lots of stored energy.
What are the Alkali Metals?
They are the metals in group 1A, and they have one valence electron.
