Why is the Evolution of the Atmosphere theory just a theory?
A
Evidence is limited as humans weren’t around as well as fossil record is incomplete, with the Earth currently known to have been formed 4.6 Billion years ago.

How do greenhouse gases work?
A
Compounds such as Methane, Water Vapour, and Carbon Dioxide in the earth atmosphere prevent light from escaping, light hits surface of earth, it bounces back, reradiates a bit on those compounds but eventually escapes, but since there’s so much CO2 and other types of these gases more and more light doesn’t end up escaping and slowly the earth heats up.
