Define biodiversity
The variety if life in the world or in a particular habitat or ecosystem
How important is biodiversity to the natives?
Very. Its a critical part of who they are and how they function.
What is TEK?
Traditional ecological knowledge. Essentially a sense of who we are and how we connected to our land, whether that be by teaching or experience.
Define absolute dating.
Determining the actual age of a rock or fossil using radioactive decay.
Define Relative dating.
The determination of which rock or fossil came first, second, third, etc
Law of superposition
In an undisturbed sequence of rocks, the oldest are at the bottom and the youngest are on top
Law of cross cutting
Any feature that cuts across a sequence or rocks is younger than everything it cuts
Law of inclusion
Any rock or fragment that is included inside of another rock is older than the rock of which its included
What types of carbon are a part of absolute dating?
Carbon 14&12
Name the four eras of geological time from oldest to now.
Precambrian, Paleozoic, mesozoic, Cenozoic.
What is the precambrian era?
The era of cellular life.
What is the Paleozoic era?
Plants became widespread and the first vertebrate animals roamed.
What is the mesozoic era?
Commonly known for dinasors, it also included dry plants and bugs
What is the Cenozoic era?
The rise of humanity.
