Earth's system Flashcards
Physical properties
Any properties that can be observed using the five senses or measured without changing the matter.
Weight/Mass
Weight- how heavy the object is ( mass is how much stuff (matters) something is made of)
Solid
A state of matter that maintains its own shape instead of forming into shape of its container.
liquid
Sucking a can flow and Take Shape of its container like water or juice but it has fixed amount of space volume to similar to how a solid says the same size.
conduct
It allows something like he or electricity to flow or pass through it easily
heat
Can you read that moves through something hot to something cold a form of energy
Minerals
Minerals a substance found in nature minerals make up rocks
Hardness
How easy or difficult it is to scratch a mineral surface
Streak
The color of its powder when you rub it on a hard rough surface like a tile
Tiles
The color power behind when a mineral is scrapped across a hard surface like a ceramic tile which helped ident ifies the minerals by Street color
Color
It’s what light reflects back to our eyes minerals are colored because they absorb some color from light and reflect the rest
Luster
How shiny a rock or mineral looks when light shines on it may look like minor or glassy or even doll luster is a physic priority
cleavage
How minerals break along smooth flat line instead of randomly like when you crack an egg
Scratch test
Where you try to scratch a rock with different objects (like a fingernail or a penny) to see if it’s hard or soft
Rocks
A natural form combined with minerals and other natural materials
Minerals
A solid natural form substance that always has the same composition and have the same properties
Sentiment
The dirt and stuff that settles to the bottom of liquids or it’s carried and deposed by water wind or ice
Sedimentary
Rocked form from compaction sentiment
igneous
Rocked form from magma or lava
metamorphic
Rock form from existing Rock heat and produces cause the minerals to form new combined or new crystals
