Earth resources Flashcards
Recognise the difference between renewable and non-renewable resource
renewable recources can be replaced
non-renewable recources take a very long time to be replaced.
Describe uses of natural and made resources extracted from the biosphere.
plants and food used for cooking.
plants such as trees used for medicine.
Describe uses of natural and made resources extracted from the atmosphere
oxygen is used by all living things as a source of survival.
Describe uses of natural and made resources extracted from the lithosphere.
coal used as a source of heat
oil used for cooking
Describe uses of natural and made resources extracted from the hydroshpere.
water uses:
washing
hygene
drinking
cooking
describe the physical process of the watercycle.
evaporation is where water turns to vapor. Condensation is where water turns to drops.Precipitation is where drops fall down. traspiration happens when water vapor forms on the leaves of plants produced by the stamona. once the water has fallen on land it will funoff unto the soil and makes its way down turning itself into groundwater repeating the process.
What are cells
Cells are the building blocks of all living things including animals.
define ectothermic
When an animal is ectothermic they depend on the temprature of there surroundings to stabilise there body temperature. An example of one of these animals are a fish.
define endothermic
When an animal is endothermic the animal has the ability to controll there body temperature. A bird is an example of this.
5 kindom classification systems
animal. plant. fungi.protist. moneria
what are mamals
Mamals give birth to live young
what are marsupials
A marsupials give birth to undiveloped baby’s that climb into the pouch.
what is an aquarius mixture
an aquarius mixture is made up of h2O as the solvent and a solute that has to be disolved in the solvent.
Describe how separation of insoluble substances occurs through magnetic seperation.
The force of the magnet attracts the insoluble magnetic solute, seperating it from the solvent.
Describe how separation of insoluble substances occurs through seiving
When putting the aquarius mizture through the seiver you can see that the liquid solvent will fit through the holes of the seiver because the particles are always moving. But the insoluble solute will not go through the seiver as the particles are packed together sepperating the mixture.
