Earth And Space Flashcards
What is the order of the planets from the sun
Mercury,Venus,earth,mars,Jupiter,Saturn,uranus,Neptune
Largest planet
Jupiter
Smallest planet
Mercury
Funfact about every earth
Only earth with oxygen
Fun fact about mercury
Closest to the sun
Fact about Venus
Second brightest plannet
Fact about mars
Names after the roman god
Fact about Jupiter
Biggest plannet
Fact about Saturn
Least dance plannet
Fact about Uranus
Uranus is sideways
Fact Neptune
164 days to orbit the sun
Draw an earth rotation around the sun
π=earth.

What causes night and day?
The earth rotates in space taking 24 hours for a full rotation
As the earth rotates one side at a time moves in tot he sun light creating day
What is the link between a planets distance from the sun and itβs orbit?
The longer the distance from the sun, the longer the rotation takes and visa versa
What is gravity
the force that attracts a body towards the centre of the earth, or towards any other physical body having mass.
How does the gravity vary on other planets
Gravity is stronger on bigger planets and weaker on smaller planets
What it the difference between mass and weight?
Mass stays the same no matter were u are, weight changes on different planets
What causes a season?
The tilt of the earth causes season so when the Southern Hemisphere tilts to the sun it is summer coz it has strong rays northers hemisphere would have winter coz less rays
How long for moon rotation?
29.5
Earth tilt is
23.5 degrees
Phases of the moon
1st quarter, waxing gibbous, full moon, waning gibbons, last quarter, waxing crescent, new moon, waxing crescent
Why does the moon change shape
It doesnβt change shape it looks like it because the sun light
What do the terms waxing and waning mean?
Waxing is after full moon and before new moon
What is a solar eclipse?
When the moon passes between earth and the sun the moons shadow falls on the earth during day create a solar eclipse
What is a lunar eclipse
Lunar eclipse occurs when the moon passes in to the earth shadow happens during a full moon
Draw diagrams to represent these eclipses

What is a high tide?
A high tide is when the sun is on the same side of the earth and the sun called a spring tide
What is a low tide?
A low tide is about 7days after a spring tide the sun and moon are no longer in the same line as the earth called a neap tide
Draw a diagram of these tides
O=moons
