Pre-auricular pit / sinus - hole/dimple/pit - may become infected - discharge
Microtia = no pinna +/- atresia of external ear canal

Swab + culture
Cauliflower ear
Pinna hematoma - history of blunt trauma
External ear - Bone abnormality
Exostosis - localized bone hypertrophy
External ear - Other
Ear wax / cerumen. May be excessive, impaction - can cause conductive hearing loss.
Foreign body in ear
Purulent discharge
Acute otitis media
Chronic suppurative otitis media
Choleasteatoma

Complications of infectious otitis media
Cholesteatoma Mastoiditis Petrositis - infection of petrous part of temporal bone Facial palsy Labyrinthitis Meningitis Intracranial abscess
Serous discharge / blockage
Otitis media with effusion (OME)
No infection of the ear. Serous effusion as a result of upper RTI infection.
More common in young children.

CSF otorrhea
