Oda Nobunaga enters Kyōto; de facto end of Muromachi bakufu.
1575
Battel of Agashino; Oda Nobunaga and allies defeat the army of Takeda Shingen by massive use of firearms. Nobunaga dominates most of western and central Japan.
1582
Oda Nobunaga killed by one of his own generals (Honnōji incident).
1590
Toyotomi Hideyoshi unifies Japan.
1592/1597
First and second Japanese invasion of Korea.
1600
battle of Sekigahara. Eastern coalition of daimyō under Tokugawa Ieyasu defeats western coalition of daimyō. Tokugawa establishes their domination over the realm. Tokugawa bakufu (Tokugawa warrior government; seat of power: Edo=Tokyō of today, therefore also often: ‘Edo bakufu”)
Sengoku (‘Warring states’) period and unification period.
