Ear Flashcards

1
Q

How do we hear?

A

Sound waves travel down ext auditory meatus until they “hit” tympanic membrane

Tympanic membrane vibrates, causing malleus, incus, stapes to vibrate

Vibration causes fluid in cochlea to move, which causes the cilia to move

Stereocilia create electrical signals which are taken to the brain via CrN VIII
