A fly-by-wire system (FBW) controls everything except for the ailerons, which are controlled via conventional cables.

FBW system
A
- The FBW system incorporates higher-level functions for safety and to reduce pilot workload. They get
their commands from the Flight Control Module (FCM). - When the higher-level functions are working, the flight controls are operating in “Normal Mode”.
- When the higher-level functions are not working, the flight controls are operating in “Direct Mode”.
