E-Pack Revision 2 Flashcards
Tell me about yourself
Im currently a production planner and production artist with a background in design, graphic communications, pre-press, and project management. I have about eight years of experience in the industry, and I graduated with a degree in printing. Throughout my career, I’ve developed a strong foundation in managing projects, collaborating with teams, and ensuring the final product meets high standards. I’m passionate about both design and the technical side of production, which is why I’m excited about the opportunity to work with ePac, especially considering their focus on sustainability and innovative packaging solutions
Why do you want to work at ePac Packaging?
I want to work at ePac because it perfectly aligns with my background in design, pre-press, and production. I’m excited about the company’s focus on sustainability and innovative digital printing solutions, which is an area I’m passionate about. With my experience in graphic communications and project management, I believe I can contribute to ePac’s commitment to providing high-quality, flexible packaging solutions while supporting local businesses and sustainable practices. The opportunity to work in such a dynamic and forward-thinking environment is something I’m really eager about.”
What do you know about flexible packaging?
Flexible packaging refers to packaging that can easily change shape when filled or during use. It’s produced from materials like paper, plastic, film, and aluminum foil. What excites me about ePac is how they leverage digital printing to create flexible packaging solutions that are not only eco-friendly but also cost-effective. I learned that ePac, which started in 2016 in Madison, Wisconsin, has grown globally and works with both small businesses and larger enterprises. They help their clients stand out in the market with high-quality, sustainable packaging options that reduce waste and improve time to market.
Can you describe a time when you had to quickly learn a new process or technology?
Yes, I remember in my previous role at Moss, I had to quickly learn about fabrics and warps when setting up files, despite not receiving formal training. I had to dive into the details and figure it out on my own to ensure the files were set up correctly for production. This experience taught me how to quickly adapt to new technologies and processes, and reinforced my ability to be resourceful and take initiative when faced with challenges
Tell me about a time when you had a disagreement with a coworker. How did you handle it?
I remember working on a project where I had a disagreement with a coworker regarding the setup of a design file. They were scaling an image up, causing the cropping to be off, and placing elements incorrectly within the safety area. I explained that it was important to adjust the canvas size in Photoshop to accommodate the bleed rather than forcing the image into the safety area. We discussed the issue calmly, and I showed them the correct approach. We ultimately worked together to make the necessary adjustments, ensuring the final design met the required specifications. I learned that clear communication and patience are key when resolving conflicts and ensuring everyone is aligned on the project goals.
Why should we hire you for this role?
You should hire me because I bring a solid background in pre-press design, printing, and project management, with over eight years of experience in the industry. I’m passionate about how ePac leverages digital printing to create innovative, sustainable packaging solutions that benefit both local businesses and larger enterprises. My attention to detail, ability to quickly adapt to new technologies, and strong communication skills make me confident that I can contribute effectively to your team and help ePac continue to deliver high-quality, flexible packaging to its clients.
Where do you see yourself in the next 3 to 5 years?
In the next 3 to 5 years, I see myself growing within the packaging industry, particularly in a company like ePac that focuses on innovation and sustainability. I’m excited about the opportunity to deepen my expertise in flexible packaging and contribute to the company’s continued success. I’d love to take on more responsibilities in design or production, and possibly even move into a leadership role where I can help guide projects and mentor others.”
