Q

Options for statin intolerance

A

Change to another statin
-Preferably pravastatin
Dose reduction
Alternate day dosing
-For example, give 40 mg every other day instead of 20 mg q day
-Similar LDL lowering seen for atorvastatin, fluvastatin, and rosuvastatin
-No clinical outcomes data
-No daily doses >40 mg daily have been tested
