Lower motor neuron lesion, (CN or spinal nerves).
The key impairment is muscle weakness and low muscle tone
What are the overall features of Flaccid dysarthria?
Reduced speed, range and accuracy. Look for hypernasality, imprecise consonants, breathiness and short phrases
What are the 5 areas of dysarthria?
resonance, articulation, prosody, respiration and articulation
What are the overall features of spastic dysarthria?
Spasticity of speech structures, increased muscle tone (harder to move muscles). Listen for imprecise consonants or monopitch, slow rate.

Bilateral damage of the upper motor neuron structures.
