Dynamics Notes Flashcards
An attractive force, strongest of the 4 forces, only acts over short distances
Strong nuclear force
Excerted between certain subatomic particles, second strongest of the four forces, a hundred times shorter than the strong force
Weak nuclear force
Force between two objects because of their mass, always attractive, weakest of the four forces, acts over nearly unlimited distances
Gravitational force
Forced that charged particles excert on each other, can be attractive or repulsive, acts over practically unlimited distances
Electromagnetic force
What is Newton’s first law
Every object continues in its state of rest, or uniform velocity in a straight line, as long as no net force acts on it
If the net force of an object is zero than…..
The object is at rest or the object is moving with a constant velocity
How to calculate weight
Fg = mg (weight = mass x 9.8)
What is Newton’s second law
The acceleration of an object is directly proportional to the net force acting on it, and is inversely proportional to the mass
How to calculate net force
Net force = mass x acceleration
What is Newton’s third law
If object exerts force an object be called the action force an object be exerted for an object called the action force that equal and magnitude the opposite direction
What is the normal force
Always exists between two forces that are in contact, is always perpendicular to the surface
What type of friction exists between objects that are not in relative motion
Static friction
What type of friction exists between objects that are in relative motion
Kinetic friction
