ADHD
<12 YO Persistent Pervasive Interferes Symptoms present in more than one environment
Substance Use Disorder
2+ DSM symptoms:
2-3 = mild 4-5 = moderate 6+ = severe
States of remission
Early full remission: no use for 3 months
Full sustained remission: no use for 12+ months
Qualifiers:
Partial remission: may have been a relapse in there
Controlled environment: ex hospital, incarceration
OCD
Features of obsession:
Recurrent/persistent; inappropriate, unwanted, intrusive thoughts or images, often not in line with patient’s beliefs
Compulsions: Patient feels obligated to perform activities
Compulsions must consume > 1 hr per day for dx
PTSD
Must have one symptom from each category (RAMA):
- Re-experiencing
- Avoidance
- Mood/cognition
- Arousal
for at least 1 month.
Traumatic experience may have been any time in past.
Bipolar I (DSM-IV)
1+ week of mania (less if hospitalization required)
2+ weeks of depression
Bipolar II
< 1 week of hypomania
2+ weeks of depression
Any history of mania (as opposed to hypomania) = bipolar I dx
Schizophrenia
2+ of following for 6+ months:
- Hallucinations
- Delusions
- Disorganized speech/behavior
- Catatonia or other negative symptoms
Plus exclusion of other causes
Major depressive disorder
2+ weeks of 5+ symptoms
Persistent depressive disorder
2+ years of 2+ symptoms; no reprieve for period longer than 2 months.
No mania/hypomania history.
Premenstrual dysphoric disorder
5+ symptoms beginning week 3, resolving week 1, occurring for most cycles for past year:
1+ of following must be present:
Emotional lability; irritability or prone to conflict; depression; anxiety
4+ of following must be present:
Diminished interest; trouble concentrating; fatigue; changes in appetite/cravings; hypersomnia; insomnia; feelings of being overwhelmed; physical symptoms
Severity rating: anorexia (by BMI)
> 17: mild
16-16.99: moderate
15-15.99: severe
<15: extreme
Bulimia
Recurrent binge eating +
Use of compensatory behaviors
At least once weekly for 3+ months
Binge eating disorder
3+ symptoms, once per week for 3 months
No compensatory behaviors
Prolonged grief disorder
Intense yearning, preoccupation, and avoidance lasting for >1 year
