Coverage A - Dwelling
Coverage A refers to the main dwelling described in the declarations page and any attached additions such as porches, wings or steps. Dwelling coverage can also apply to materials used in the upkeep of the structure, and any materials being used to repair or add on to the structure.
Coverage B - Other Structures
Coverage B applies to detached structures on the same property as the main dwelling described in the declarations page, including garages, sheds, fences and other outbuildings that are not rented to tenants or used for commercial purposes.
Coverage C - Personal Property
Coverage C of a dwelling policy applies to personal property of the insured in the dwelling and on the premises, including the property of the insured’s family members and guests.
Coverage D- Fair Rental Value
Coverage D applies to rental properties when damaged by an insured peril. If the property contains multiple units, the coverage applies to only to uninhabitable units. Fair rental value will indemnify the policyholder for the loss of rental income while the insured property is damaged.
Coverage E - Additional Living Expenses (Loss of Use)
Coverage E applies to costs associated with the loss of use of the primary dwelling listed in the declarations. If the dwelling becomes uninhabitable, loss of use would indemnify the policyholder for costs associated with renting a hotel, home or apartment, as well as moving costs.
