What should you do if a patient refuses to comply with DVLA rules?
- Doctor’s duty to advise the patient that they are not allowed to drive
- Patients must be made aware that doing so will be breaking the law and their insurance will be invalidated
- If patient continues to refuse and says they will continue driving, involve senior staff and have multiple conversations
- If they still insist, you can break confidentiality and inform the DVLA (must tell the patient that you are doing this)
