Diabetes - car
can drive if they have hypo awareness and not more than one ep of hypo requiring the assistance of another person within 12m
no need to inform if on tablets/exenatide or diet controlled
diabetes - hgv
can drive if no hypo 12m, full hypo awareness, regular BM monitoring, understand risks of hypo
hypertension
no need to inform dvla
hgv - disqualified if syst >180 or dias >100 persistently
elective angioplasty
1wk off
hgv - 6wks
acs
4wks off, 1 wk if successfully treated with angio
pacemaker insertion
1wk off
ICD
if for sustained ventricular arrhythmia - 6m
if proph - 1m
disqualifies HGV
successful catheter ablation for arrhythmia
2d off
aortic aneurysm 6-6.5cm
inform dvla
annual review mandatory
aortic aneurysm 6.5cm+
disqualifies
heart transplant
no notification needed
visual field defects
must stop driving unless confirmed able to meet recommended guidelines
monocular vision
must notify DVLA
may drive if acuity and fields normal in remaining eye
when must you notify the dvla in anxiety or depression
if memory probs, concentration probs, agitation, behavioural disturbance or suicidal ideation
acute psychotic disorder
must not drive during acute illness and notify DVLA
