Preferred Response
Need probable cause to believe an A & B occurred / and then an arest would be the preferred response.
Restraining order is in place + volation = mandatory response (will arrest)
Mandatory response
existence of a protection order and the violation of that restraining
order, then an arrest is mandatory
If Restraining order is not in place but theres probable cause an offense occurred = preferred response
vacate section of a protection order
-The defendant shall not damage any of the plaintiff’s belongings or those of other occupants.
-The defendant shall not shut off or cause to shut off any utilities or mail delivery to the plaintiff.
-When the premises designated in vacate order is a residence and plaintif is living at said residence the defendant shall not interfere in any way with the plaintiff’s right to possess such residence.
Know what definitely is allowed and not allowed to do on property
Petchiae
capillaries in eye explode and get blood shot eyes due to strangulation
Determining whether there’s a violation of the restraining order by the Defendant / Abuser
- have to have notice/knowledge of order
-by being served in hand or knowledge of the orders existence

Responding to a DV call w/ a child involved
- written report to DCF within 48 hours
- oral report, immediately

When a victim takes out an initial restraining order (Temporary order)
