What can’t the lawyer do in regard to unrepresented people?

Answer 1

(a) cannot state or imply that the lawyer is disinterested
(b) must make reasonable efforts to correct misunderstanding of the lawyer’s role
(c) cannot give legal advice other than advice to secure counsel

Question 2

Do lawyers have to be truthful to 3rd parties?

Answer 2

Yes under R.4.1:

(a) can’t make false statement
(b) can’t fail to disclose material fact to them when it is necessary to avoid assisting criminal/fraudulent act by client

NOTE: not required to inform opposing party of relevant facts, just have to be truthful
