A
A duties are ‘taxes’ imposed on the consumer for imported goods. Machinery, vehicles are examples.
- Duties can also apply to domestic products. Fuel, alcohol and cigarettes are examples.
- Duties are the responsibility of the consumer to pay
- Collected by the federal government
- Makes imported products more expensive which makes domestic goods more competitive
