Never perform an experiment unsupervised

SAFETY GLASSES MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES

All experiments should be performed while standing, and all lab stools or chairs should be placed under the laboratory benches.

Read reagent labels twice before using.

Never take reagent bottles to your laboratory bench.

When observing the odour of a substance, do not hold your face directly over the container. Use your hand to fan the air above the test tube toward your nose. This is called the “wafting method”.

Use tongs and test tube holders to handle hot laboratory equipment. Remember: hot glass looks just like cool glass.

Never pipettes by mouth.

All accidents, even minor one must be reported to the teacher immediately. If you feel dizzy at any time during the laboratory, you must also report this to the teacher.

Horseplay, practical jokes and running are absolutely forbidden, and will result in expulsion from the lab.

Do not pick up broken glass with your bare hands. Use a dustpan and a brush.

Dispose of all broken glass, scalpels and ceramics in the sharps container.

Clean up all spills immediately.

Equipment broken trough carelessness or negligence will be replaced at the expense of the student(s)
