S/S: GERD (heartburn & indegestion) when lying down after eating
Unless your symptoms occur when you lay down after you eat
S/S of dumping syndrome
DRUNK + SHOCK =
S/S: 1.)DRUNK (staggering gait, slurred speech, impaired judgement) &
2.)SHOCK
(tachycardia, tachypnea, cold, clammy, pale)
DRUNK + SHOCK = HYPOGLYCEMIA
3.)ACUTE ABDOMINAL DISTRESS (cramping, pain, doubling over, borborygmi increased
bowel sounds, diarhhea, bloating, distension)
What’s the treatment for hiatal hernia?
Want the stomach to empty faster
If it empty it want reflux
1.) play around with the head of the bed (raise), high because gravity empty it faster
2.)play around with water content with the meal (flush faster) ! Liquid meal empty fast
3.)you can play around with the carbohydrate content of the meal (carbs
go fast)… LOW protein!! Carbs empty fast
Treatment for dumping syndrome
What position do they eat in ?
What position do they assume after meals?
What do they eat ?
When do they drink fluids?
When everything low the stomach empty ?
Treatment:
During meals -eat in reclining position,
After meals -lie down after meals for 20-30 minutes
(also restrict fluids during meals, low CHO and fiber diet, small frequent meals) , increase fat and protein,
Slow

diverticulitis (inflammation of the diverticulum in the colon) pain is around LL Quadrant?
What is the diet for diverticulitis?
low residue, no seeds, nuts, peas
low-residue diet, which avoids all high-fiber foods, may be used in treating acute diverticulitis. However, after symptoms have resolved, a high-fiber diet is resumed to prevent future episodes.
