A
- Treason Act: January 1552 - became an offence to question the Royal Supremacy and the beliefs of the English Church
- Second Act of Uniformity: January 1552 - became compulsory to attend services at the church of England
Prayer Book 1552 - all traces of catholicism and catholic mass were removed, including the core catholic belief of transubstantiation

Northumberland’s catholic/protestant deception
A
- used catholic/conservative support to become Lord president of Privy Council, then these men lost their positions
- confessed to be a catholic so that he could oversee protestant changes
- Northumberland governed in the name of Edward VI, a strong protestant, so he was being a good servant

Northumberland’s most important priority - stabilise England after turmoil of Somerset’s rise
tried paying off England’s debts through selling off chantry land owned by priests
- wanted to end debasement
- wanted to increase Crown revenue through trade expansion and raising customs duties
