what is a ductal papilloma?

Ductal papilloma is a benign breast condition - it is not cancer.
It is an overgrowth of the ducts.
can BLEED or seep fluid

What are the symptoms of ductal papilloma?
A
- small lump
- clear or bloodstained discharge from nipplee.
- usually not painful but can have discomfort
- Can occur in both breasts at same time.

Why should papillomas be examined under the microscope?
A
- some ductal papillomas can be associated with atypical hyperplasia which can be precancerous

How are intraductal papillomas identified?
A
by chance via outine mammograms

What is the triple assessment for the breast?
A
- breast examination
- mammogram
- fine needle aspiration or biopsy.
