Dtm Flashcards
What are the 5 stages of the DTM?
- High stationary
- Early expanding
- Late expanding
- Low stationary
- Declining
Describe the 1st stage of the DTM.
High stationary- total population low, growing ever so slightly- high birth rate around 40, fluctuating a bit- high death rate fluctuating slightly under 40.
Describe the 2nd stage of the DTM
Early expanding- population low to start but growing quite rapidly- high birth rate around 40, fluctuating- decreasing death rate rapidly decreasing death rate, increasing the population.
Describe the 3rd stage of the DTM
Late expanding- population still increasing, a bit slower now- birth rate rapidly decreasing- death rate decreasing steadily.
Describe the 4th stage of the DTM
Low stationary- population high, increasing steadily- birth rate decreases steadily- death rate stable
Describe the 5th stage of the DTM
Declining- population slowly decreasing- birth rate decreasing ever so slightly- death rate stable
