-Ages 0-5
-Poor social skills & poor stereotypical behavior:
EX: not making eye contact, no back and forth play
Social (pragmatic) Communication Disorder
Impaired social communication - THAT IS IT
Specific Learning Disorder
Difficulty learning basic knowledge for age level in specific subject
EX: math, reading, writing skill
ADHD
NEED TO RULE OUT LEARNING DISORDER
- Present before age 12
- Have difficulty at 2 or more settings: ex- work, school, or home
Pica
Eating nonfood substances
EX: Dirt, batteries, etc
Rumination Disorder
Eating and throwing up after eating
Language Disorder
- Difficult time building vocabulary
- Simple sentences: struggles with 5 or longer word sentences
- Shown at 0-5yr old
Child Onset Fluency Disorder
- Stuttering! (repeat words, pause in between words)
- Shown at 0-5 yr old
Tourette’s Disorder
-BOTH motor and vocal tics
Motor: eye twitching, hands flap, etc
Vocal: shout out words
Persistent Motor/Vocal Tic Disorder
One or the other, NOT BOTH!
Encopresis
- Pooping themselves
- Older than 4
Enuresis
- Peeing in clothing on purpose or not
- Older than 5
- Common with sexual trauma, pattern overtime
Separation Anxiety
- Attachment issues! specifically from caregiver
- Kids: present for 6 weeks
- Adults: present for 6 months
Generalized Anxiety
-Worrying about a number of things across various domains
EX: trouble sleeping, eating, crying, etc
-Present for 6 months! Both kid/adult
Selective Mutism
Fails to speak in specific SITUATION
EX: Kid doesn’t speak at school but does at home
Social Anxiety Disorder (Social Phobia)
- Concern for judgment/rejection
- Avoid certain events
- Avoids groups of people
Reactive Attachment Disorder
- Failure to thrive!
- Difficult time engaging, very withdrawn
- Does not seek out comfort and doesn’t respond to comfort
- 9months-5yrs: trauma and multiple caregivers
Disinhibited Social Engagement Disorder
- Will stand out!
- Attaches very easily w/ strangers
- 9months-5yrs: trauma and multiple caregivers
Oppositional Defiant Disorder
- Problems with authority
- Refuses to comply with directions
Conduct Disorder
- Law breaking
- Aggressive, Destroying property, fighting
- Antisocial personality as an adult
Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder
- Outbursts 3x a week
- Negative mood
- 6-10yrs old, can be up to 18yrs old
- Children with consistent tantrums/negative mood
Brief Psychotic Disorder
- UP TO 1 MONTH
- Delusions, lost in own world, hallucinations, disorganized
Schizophreniform
- 1 MONTH to 6 MONTHS
- Delusions, lost in own world, hallucinations, disorganized
Schizophrenia
- 6 MONTHS +
- Delusions, lost in own world, hallucinations, disorganized
Major Depressive Disorder
- Present for 2 weeks
- Biological change: sleep/eating, SI thoughts, motivation lacking, dark mood, anhedonia (lack enjoyment)
Unspecified Depressive Disorder
- Functioning but symptoms are mild
- Not meet full criteria for MDD
Persistent Depressive Disorder
- Depressed mood for 2 YEARS - Adult
- Depressed mood for 1 YEAR - Child
- Not as deep as MDD, on and off struggles w/ low mood
Bipolar 1 Disorder
-NEED ONE THING: Manic Phase (severe impairments)
Bipolar 2 Disorder
- Hypomanic phase & ONE phase of depression
- Mania for 4 days, doesn’t lead to severe impairments
Cyclothymic Disorder
- Present for 2 YEARS
- Hypomanic alternating with low level depression
Schizoaffective Disorder
- Psychotic features present all the time!
- Mood comes and goes
Major Depression with Psychotic Features
- Depression present all the time!
- Psychotic features come and go
