Not speaking during specific times/ events- but speaks at home

Distress in knowing separation is coming up - worrying that something bad is going to happen to self or parent

Under 18 yrs, having a hard time holding things, dropping, coordination is off
Repetitive movements: hand waving body rocking, hitting own body

Persistent: motor OR vocal - not both
Intellectual disability
Deficit in OQ, intellect or adapting socially
Happens in child hood to adolescence
Reactive attachment disorder
Found in children with many moves, families,
Distance, flat affect, rarely responds to attention for comfort and does not seek it .
Disinhibited attachment
Willingness to go with strangers - overly verbal or physical behaviors , does not check in with care giver
Oppositional disorder
Under 18 yrs
Challenges authority
Aggressive, spiteful, no comply,
But does not hurt others or property or illegal behavior
Conduct disorder
Aggression, bully, IS hurt to others, violates others rights, property, rules
Criminal behavior
Intermittent explosive disorder
Severe temper outbursts
3 or more times per week
Mood between outbursts is persistently irritable or angry
Major depressive disorder
Two weeks duration hopelessness emptiness sad tearful worthlessness loss of interest or pleasure weight loss trouble concentrating insomnia suicidal thoughts fatigue
Persistent depressive disorder
Two years for adults one year for children
Bipolar I
Most severe -extreme has mania inflated self esteem feel good with little sleep flight of ideas hyperactivity grandiose identification
Bipolar II
Must have hypo mania and major depressive disorder
Cyclothymic disorder
Two years for adults when years for children hypo maniac and depressive periods are present for at least half of the time they are not without symptoms for at least two months
Anxiety disorders
General anxiety disorder six months excessive worrying about everything muscle tension fatigue difficulty concentrating irritable
Social anxiety disorder is basically a social phobia mark by fear or anxiety about being in social situations we are being judged humiliated or embarrassed by others
Argo phobia - fear of leaving home
Panic disorder -palpitations,Pounding heart sweating trembling shortness of breath choking chest pain nausea dizzy lightheaded fear of dying
Adjustment disorder
Caused by a recent stressors or significant life events happened within the last six months of that event individual experiences depressed mood anxious or a mixture of both
Post traumatic stress disorder
One month or more after the event to trauma near death experience serious and injury sexual assault replay traumatic events reoccurring nightmares flashbacks inability to experience positive emotions disassociative symptoms avoidance symptoms
Acute stress disorder
This is less than one month from the event exhibiting the same symptoms of posttraumatic stress
Disassociative disorders
Disassociative identity disorder used to be multiple personalities
loss of self
altered in affect behavior
gaps in a recall forgets every day even important personal information
picks up different identities all together without a sense of connection
Disassociative amnesia not able to recall important autobiography information and not able to recall specific events travels away from home which is fugue
Obsessive compulsive disorder
This is egodystonic “person does not like the feeling Obsessive thoughts, anxiety, urges, Repetitive behaviors May count to 8 before doing something, Need to wash the dishes three times
Obsessive compulsive personality disorder
Egosyntonic- means they do not see anything wrong with their behaviors and won’t try to stop them
depersonalization
experience detachment from self, body- being outside of body
Derealization
experience detachment from surroundings, like a dream
Obsessive Compulsive related disorders
Body Dysmorphic disorder- not liking a certain part of self
Hoarding- cant dicard or part with items, keeps them
Trichotillomania- hair pulling
Excoriation- skin picking
Pyromania - fires
Kleptomania- to steal
Schizophrenia
6 months or more
delusions, hallucinations, paranoid, disorganized speech, grossly disorganized or catatonic behaviors

Difficulty making decisions, has to have others involved and give opinions , helpless when alone
Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder
Egosyntonic- believe they are not wrong in their thoughts, practices, in fact they can’t see why others do not do the same. Often impose their own standards on to others
Personality disorders
are all Egosyntonic: they do not believe there is anything wrong in their thought process and do not have distress about it.
Somatic Symptom disorder
person has a significant focus on physical symptoms, such as pain, weakness, or shortness of breath, that results in major distress/ and or problems functioning
the symptoms may or may not be associated with a diagnosed medical condition, but the person is experiencing symptoms and believes they are sick.
excessive thoughts, feelings, behaviors, out of proportion .

Major Neurocognitive disorder
significant decline, impairs decision making/ judgement/ and needs help with daily activity.

moderately declines, impaired decision making/ judgement, need help with SOME help with daily functions and activities.

Delirium
temporary loss of awareness, concept of time, reality. usually medical
anorexia Nervosa
restriction of energy/food intake, significant low body weight, intense fear of gain weight, lack of recognition of the seriousness of the problem.
Restrictive type: dieting, fasting, exercising excessively
Binge-eating/purging type: self induced vomiting, misuse of laxatives, etc.
Bulimia Nervosa
Binge eating, large amount of food , lack of control over eating during this episode. induces vomiting, exercise, misuse of laxatives
Phases of Change

no intention of change, not aware they have a

thinking of stopping problem, but not yet dedicated

Preparation
small changes in prep for the big change
Action
behavior, experiential, and environmental
modification. Ready to change those aspect of life
that are contributing to undesired situation.
