Q

How does Hoffmann support the DSM

A

Looked at the different diagnosis of alcohol abuse dependence and cocaine dependence to see if a difference showed up in a structured interview that was computer prompted and to see if they corresponded to the DSM criteria. He found that DSM diagnosis was valid and that the data supported the idea that dependence was more serious than abuse.
