A

100mcg / 2ml

IV: >70 - 25mcg repeated up to 25mcg every 5mins. Max of 100
<70 - 25-50mcg repeated up to 50mcg every 5 mins. Total max of 200.

IM: >70 - 25-50mcg repeated up to 50mcg every 10mins. Total of 100
<70- 25-100mcg repeated up to 50mcg every 10mins. Max of 200

NAS: >70- 25-50mcg repeated up to 50mcg every 10mins. Max of 100
<70- 50-100mcg repeated up to 100mcg every 10mins. Max of 200

Precautions: 
Older people 
Hypo tension 
Resp burns and depression 
Addiction 
MAOI therapy

Morphine

A

10mg/ 1ml

IM: >70- 2.5-5mg repeated up to 5 every 10 mins. Max of 10mg
<70- 2.5-10mg repeated up to 5mg every 10mins. Max of 20mg

IV: >70- 2.5mg repeated up to 2.5 every 5mins. Max of 10mg
<70- 2.5-5mg repeated up to 5mg every 5mins. Max of 20mg

KSAR and Kidney disease (renal failure)

Heart rate <50 or >150 BPM

A

PO: 300mg chewed and swallowed followed by some water (where possible)

Contras:
KSAR
Chest pain associated with psychostimulant overdose
Bleeding or clotting disorders (haemophilia)
Current GI bleed or Peptic ulcers

A

Ampoule 1mg/ 1ml

Epipen 300mcg

Anaphylaxis or severe allergy:

  • IM: 500mcg repeated at 5mins. No max dose (300mcg if known pregnancy) - same for sever bronchospasm or silent chest
  • NEB: 5mg single dose only

Cardiac arrest:
IV: 1mg repeated at 3-5mins. No max dose

Droperidol

A

Vial 10mg/ 2ml

IM and IV:
over 65- 5mg repeat at 15mins. Max of 10mg
16-65 years- 10mg repeat at 15mins. Max of 20mg
13-15 - 0.1-0.2 mg/ kg single max dose of 10mg. Repeat once at 15 mins. Max of 20mg

Contras: 
KSAR
Parkinson’s 
Previous dystonic reaction to droperidol
Patients < 8 years old 

QAS advice line needed for all pt’s over 65 years or between 13-15years

A

Patients with difficulty swallowing

A

Dose: 15g (150ml) repeated at 100ml (10g) bolouses every 5 minutes until BGL >4.0 mmol/L.
