Alemtuzumab
A
Moa: recombinant humanised monoclonal antibody that binds to CD52 antigen present on the surfaces of most B and T lymphocytes
Indication:
Active relapsing forms of MS
Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia
Precautions
Tx with other immunosuppressants
CI in uncontrolled hpt, history of stroke,angina,mi,cervicocephalic arterial dissection
CI in coagulopathy or tx with an anticoagulant
Live vaccines not recommended
during alemtuzumab tx
Women: ensure effective contraception during tx and 4 months after each course
Preg:;alemtuzumab induced maternal thyroid dysfunction
Preg: limited data
Breastfeeding: unlikely absorbed by the child
However, manufacturers recommend avoiding breastfeeding during and and for 4 months after tx course
