DRUGS FOR CDI (Neurogenic) Flashcards
DDAVP ADVERSE EFFECTS
abd cramping Rhinitis Mild HTN TRANSIENT HEADACHE NASAL CONGESTION NAUSEA FACIAL FLUSHING LOCAL ERYTHEMA, BURNING PAIN, SWELLING AT INJECTION SITE NSAIDS ENHANCE ANTIDIURETIC RESPONSE
DESMOPRESSIN
INTRANASALLY Synthetic analog of ADH ENABLES kidneys to concentrate u time and conserve body water NEUROGENIC DIABETES INSIPIDUS PO, IV, SC, IV-hypovolemia
Vasopressin (Lypressin)
Possesses press or and ADH properties produced concentrated Irvine by urine by increasing tubular absorption of water
Used in neurogenic DI
Short duration
INTRANASALLY, SC, IM replaced by DDAVP
ADH releasing Drugs
Diabinese -Mild forms, potential the action of vasopressin
Tegretol- carbamazepine -presse effects
Atromid-S - hypolipidemic agent that has an ANTIDIURETIC effect on patients with some residual hypothalamic vasopressin
Diuretics
Chlorothiozide (Diuril)
Useful in mold forms potentials the action of vadopressin
Prostaglandin inhibitors
Indocin (indomethacin)
Sulfonylurea compounds are alternative theraphy to DESMOPRESSIN and can be used in combination with thiazides diuretics
CHLOROPROPAMIDE
- produce a physiological anti diuresis
- dosage must be individualized
- avaliable only in tab form
Thiazides diuretics
Impair sodium chloride reabsorption in the distal tubes
HYDROCHLORITHIAZIDE (ESIDRIX, HRYDRODIURL, MICROZIDE)
Amiloride (Potassium sparing diuretic)
Risk of hypokalemia is decreased in combination with HYDROCHLORITHIAZIDE
2 agents are synergistic with respect to antidiuresis
NSAIDS
Agents act synergistically with thiazides to finish urine volume
Indomethacin (indocin) - non steroidal prostaglandin inhibitor with antipyretic properties
