How to treat HIV?

-2 Nucleoside analogue reverse transcriptase inhibitor = Zidovudine
+ either
-Non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor = Nevirapine
Or
-Viral Protease inhibitor = Saquinavir
What is Interferon-a for?

It can be give orally.
What’s Adefovir dipivoxil and Lamivudine for?
Chronic Hep B,C
Lamivudine is mainly for HIV, but with Adefovir Dipivoxil also suitable for selected patient with HepB
What is Zanamivir and Oseltmivir for?
- Viral Respiratory infection
- Treatment of influenza A,B (within 48hours of the onset of symptoms)
- Also for Post-exposure prophylaxis
What is Ribavirin for?
For Viral Respiratory Infection
For severe Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV)

Polyenes: binds to Ergosterol, increase permeability
Azoles: Prevent Ergosterol production
Allyamines: Also prevent Ergosterol production, just acts a bit earlier than Azoles
Echinocandins: prevent production of glucans

Amphoteric B: the only IV drug for systemic fungal infection. Extremely Toxic (like your ex)
Nystatin: topical use only
