Contraindications

A

Ind: chest pain or other MI symptoms, ECG changes suggesting MI, Unstable angina, pain discomfort or fever

Contra: bleeding ulcer hemorrhage or hemophilia, NSAID hypersensitivity, PEDS

Blocks calcium influx into cardiac and smooth muscle - Negative Inotropy
Slows conduction and prolongs refractory period in AV nose
Slows SA node d/c

Decrease heart contractility and AV conduction

A

Ind: Supraventricular Tachycardia , Atrial Fibrillation and A Flutter with rapid ventricular response (RVR)

Contra: AV block, sick sinus syndrome,
Any wide QRS tach, WPW, Shock, Severe CHF, IV beta blocker, hypotension

Dose: 2.5-5 mg slow IV push over 2-3 minutes. May rebolus 15-30 minutes later 5-10 mg until max of 30mg; no ped dose

Onset: 1-3 minutes
Peak: 3-5 minutes
Duration: 2-5 hrs
Supply: 10mg
