Drugs Flashcards
Atropine
Bradycardia and low blood pressure
Epinephrine
Vasoconstrictor
increases myocardial and cerebral blood flow
V-fib, V-tach, PEA, asystole
Amiodarone
Antiarrhythmic
Tachycardia, IV reduces after load and increases Cardiac index slightly.
Vasopressin
Peripheral vasoconstrictor
V-fib, V-tach, asystole, PEA
Lidocaine
Antiarrhythmic
V-fib, v-tach, use after Amiodarone
Suppresses spontaneous depolarization during diastole
Magnesium sulfate
V-fib, v-tach, torsades
Regulates movement of calcium in and out of cells,
Cardiziem
Ventricular rate control in a-fib
Inhibits calcium ions into myocardial and vascular smooth muscle, decreases myocardial contractility
Dopamine
Inotropic
Hypotension, increases cardiac output, blood pressure, renal blood flow
Dobutamine
Increases myocardial contractility without increasing myocardial oxygen demand
CHF
Calcium chloride
For asystole and PEA caused by toxicity from calcium chan blockers, CABG, hyper kalmia, hypermag, hypocalcemia
Phenylephrine
Vasoconstrictor
Propranolol
Decreases HR, CO, BP, myocardial contractility
Digoxin
Increases myocardial contractility, slows HR, must monitor potassium and dig levels
LASIK
Edema from CHF, renal failure
NTG
Relaxes vascular smooth muscle,promotes vasodilation
