Zetia action
Acts at the brush border of the small intestines and inhibits the absorption of cholesterol decreasing delivery of intestinal cholesterol to the liver. This causes a reduction in hepatic cholesterol stores, and an increase in clearance of cholesterol from the blood.
Zetia contraindications
Hypersensitive to components of the medicine, pregnancy, liver disease if used with satin

Decreases cholesterol absorption through the exogenous pathway decreases LDL cholesterol levels 15 to 30% increase HDL levels approximately 3%

When should Questran and welchol
Be taken
Take with food at largest meal 1 to 4 times a day
It is available as a powder, granules and tablets. It can be mixed with hot water, applesauce, but not carbonated drinks thyroid meds, anabiotic’s vitamins, be taken separately to prevent interaction in decreasing bioavailability.
Niacin, what is it?
Naturally occurring the vitamin can improve cholesterol levels when use it does is 100 to 300 times the recommended daily vitamin allowance
Niacin action
Decreases VLDL synthesis in the liver inhibits Lipo lysis in adipose tissue and increases lipoprotein lipase activity
Niacin dosage

Niacin contraindications
Hepatic dysfunction, severe, hypertension, persistent, hyperglycemia, acute gout, new onset, a fib, or cute peptic ulcers

Flushing itching take 325 mg of aspirin 30 minutes prior G.I. 
What labs you draw a niacin
Draw LFTs at six and 12 weeks and dose change to monitor
Does niacin work?
Niacin therapy does not lead to significant reduction in total or case, specific mortality, or recurrent cardiovascular events among people with or at risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease a.k.a. it doesn’t work
