Drugas Flashcards
What class of drug is acetaminophen?
Analgesic, antipyrectic
Dosage of acetaminophen
10-15mg/kg
What class of drug acetylcysteine?
Antidote
What is a contraindication of acetylcysteine?
Acute asthma
What is the dosage for acetylcysteine?
use as directed by physician
What is the mechanism of action of acetylcysteine?
restores liver glutathione, encourages sulfation pathway of metabolism for acetaminophen
What is the dosage of activated charcoal?
1gm/kg for adult and child
What is the class of adenosine
endogenous nucleoside; antidysrhythmic
MOA for adenosine
slows conduction through AV node and interrupts AV re-entry pathways, which restores normal sinus
What are the indications for adenosine?
Conversion of regular, narrow complex tachycardia, stable supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) or regular, monomorphic wide complex tachycardia
What are the contraindications for adenosine?
- Hypersensitivity
- Second or third degree A-V block (except those on pacemakers) and sick sinus syndrome, unless a pacemaker is in place, atrial flutter or fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia.
Dosage for adenosine
- Adult [6 mg] rapid IV/IO (1-2 seconds) followed with a 20 cc flush. May be repeated in 1-2 minutes, a second dose of [12 mg] rapid IV/IO followed by a 20 cc flush. Single doses of greater than 12 mg should not be given. May be given up to three times and always follow each bolus with a 20 cc flush.
- Pediatric: Initial: [0.1 mg/kg (max dose 6 mg)] rapid IV/IO. Repeat in 2-3 minutes if no change at [0.2 mg/kg (max dose 12 mg)] rapid IV/IO.
