Q

Explain saturation of intestinal efflux transporters

A
  • The impact of the efflux transporter i significant when the concentration of substrate is LOW.
  • When the efflux transporters are saturated the effect of them is likely to be negligable.
  • Therefore impact of P-gP more pronounced for drugs which have a very slow dissolution rate or poor inherent passive diffusion.
