- hyoscyamine
what atropa belladonna for?
as anticholinergic properties
what clostridium botulinum for?
- to treat migraine and dystonia
- for cosmetic use
how to count therapeutic index?
ED50 toxic effect/ ED50 therapeutic effect
what happen if high or low dose intake?
high dose cause hypo-responsive
low dose cause hyper-responsive
what NSAIDs do in this lecture?
- inhibit prostaglandin synthesis by COX-2
- cause vasoconstriction
- reduced glomerular filtration rate
what thalidomide for?
as sedative or for relief of morning sickness.and suitable for preggy mother
what is phocomelia?
shortening of the limbs, malformations of the face and internal organs
when malformation happen?
when exposure during organogenesis in 2 months embryo
when is functional disorder happen?
when exposure during later stages
what are the defects in vit A toxicity
- large misshapen head
- cleft palate
- malformation of heart and brain
- spontaneous abortions
hypersensitivity reaction of halothane
- mild transient liver dysfunction (fast onset, dose related)
- severe liver damage (delayed onset, not dose related)
what is steven-johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis?
- cell death causes the epidermis to separate from dermis
- causes by hypersensitivity of eg: NSAIDs, sulphonamides
hypersensitivity reaction for ecstacy
- liver damage detectable in regular users
- delayed severe liver injury
- low incidence
- repeated exposure
