Serotonin and noradrenaline (drug therapy)
Helps increase more neurotransmitters
SSRI - selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (drug therapy)
Reuptake of serotonin when released from a neuron
Serotonin and noradrenaline rebuke inhibitors (SNRIs) (drug therapy)
Similar effect as SSRI
But they block the reuptake of both seritone and noradrenaline
Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs)
Prevent enzyme monoamine oxidase from doing its job properly
Tricyclis (TCAs) (drug therapy)
Older
Oldest drug (around since 1950s)
Boosting affect of serotonin and noradrenaline
Rarely used
More serious cases
Strengths (drug therapy)
Uses anti-depression first it will be easier for them to see befits of therapy
50-65% patients with moderate-server symptoms of depression snow improvement when given antidepresions
25-30% of patients with similar symptoms showed improvement when given a place bo
Limitation
Side effects
-weight gain
-sleep problems
-emotionally numb
-feeling dependant on medication
