Drug
A non-food substance taken into the body that changes the mind or body.
Prescription drug
A drug that needs a written order from a licensed doctor to altercate a medical problem in the body or mind.
OTC
An over the counter medicine that’s safe enough to purchase without a prescription.
Drug misuse
Using a drug in a way that’s not intended and can be unsafe.
Drug abuse
Using a drug for recreational abuse or selling OTC/prescription drugs.
Physiological dependence
A type of addiction in which the body feels a direct need for a drug.
Psychological dependence
An addiction in which the body sends a message that it needs more of that drug.
Withdrawal symptoms
An addiction in which the body sends a message that it needs more of that drug.
Side effects
Any effect of medicine other than the one intended.
Tolerance
A condition that occurs when the body gets used to a medicine so that either more medicine is needed or different medicine is needed.
Gateway drug
A drug that leads to other, usually stronger drugs.

It involves inhaling (or “huffing”) fumes from your everyday run-of-the-mill household products, such as glue, cleaning products or paint
