Explain the difference between competitive and irreversible antagonists

A
  1. Competitive: binds to same site so by increasing agonist you reduce the effect of the antagonist (Eg Atropine and propanalol)
  2. Irreversible: tightly bound to same sight or not the same (covalently) (Eg hexamethanium blocks nicotine ion channel)
