What are the Benzodiazepines? (7) Which ones are short, intermediate, fast acting?
(1) Diazepam- long acting
(2) Flurazepam-

(1) Flumazenil- short acting, IV only
What are the Barbituate drugs? (3) What are they primarily used for?
(1) Thiopental- ultra short acting due to increased lipid solubility
(2) Pentobarbital- primary used as anti-epileptic drug
(3) Phenobarbital- hypnotic with high abuse potential whose use has been largely displaced by safer benzodiazepines
What is the drug that acts at the benzodiazepine binding site, but has unique structures therefore is not considered a Benzodiazepine? What is it used for?
Zolipidem; it is used as a sleep aid
What is another sedative/hypnotic that is converted to trichloroethanol?
Chloral hydrate
