Adrenaline for anaphylaxis or CPR
500mcg IM
1mg ever 3-5 minutes 1 in 10’000
Hydrocortisone for anaphylaxis
100-300mg IV
Chlorphenamine for anaphylaxis
10mg IM or IV
Atropine for bradycardia post MI
500mcg every 3-5 minutes maximum 3mg per course IV
Aspirin for N/STEMI
300mg PO daily
Clopidogrel for Stroke or TIA in those allergic to aspirin
75mg once daily PO
Calcium gluconate for acute hyperkalaemia
10-20ml 10% slow IV and adjusted to ECG improvement
Dextrose/Insulin for ketoacidosis
50 units of insulin in 50ml of saline at 0.1unit/kg/h
10% glucose given once blood glucose concentration falls below 14mmol/l at 125ml/hour as well as saline infusion
Hypoglycaemia
Dextrose 15-20g over 15 minutes as 10% or 20%
3-4 teaspoons of sugar dissolved in water
4-7 glucose tablets
150-200ml of pure fruit juice
Glucagon 1mg IV/IM
After BM above 4mmol/l give long acting carbohydrate
Diazepam for Status epileptics
10mg and then 10mg after 10 minutes if still required IV
10-20mg and then 10-20mg after 10-15minutes per rectum
Lorazepam for Status epileptics
4mg then another 4mg 10 minutes later IV into a large vein
Salbutamol nebuliser for COPD/asthma
5mg repeat every 20-30 minutes given via oxygen driven nebuliser
Prednisolone in asthma
40-50mg daily for at least 5 days
Naloxone
400mcg IV
800mcg x 2 at 1 min interval if no response to preceding dose
2mg once if still no response
