1. (introduction to medicine) Ask if they have had it before, if not tell them what medicine they have, what its for
2. (medication speficifics) Explain how they should take their medication, how long it takes to work and any side effects.
3. (safe guarding )Explain to them what to do if they experience any problems, how to monitor side effects and ask if they have further questions.

1. Do not chew, crush or swallow
2. Place between gum and teeth or cheeks and gums.
3. can take 3-5hrs to dissolve

Counselling points for suppositories

Answer 3

1. Never by mouth only for the rectum
2. If you need to empty bowel before use
3. Lie of one side raise knees to chest and inster pointed end first then low legs and lay on back for few minute
4. Resist urge to expel, might have to clench gluts
5. It melts with body heat so do not hold for too long
